One of my personal advocacies is the ARTS!  I have always believed that ART is the soul of our people.  Without it, I feel we would be all empty vapid shells.  I sit on the board of The Asian Cultural Council whose main objective is to enhance the artists by giving them the opportunity to enrich their skills and crafts by immersing themselves in further studies or internships.

.

The Philippine board's main goal is to find the money to do all of this.  A really daunting task if you ask my opinion.  However, it can be done.  This can be done by all of you passing this message to everyone you know and sharing this information.

.

Today, we will be having main fund raising project which is an auction celebrating the greatness of the Filipino artist.  This year is very special because we asked the help of the country's top galleries to take part and share with us the most coveted and provoking talent they have in their roster.  I for one, am very very excited for the auction and I implore all of you to help me spread the word on your Facebook accounts, on your twitter and on all your email data base.  The more we spread the word about the auction the better it is for the future of our artists.  Help me rekindle our soul and make our artists alive!

.

.

Please enjoy these amazing Images from the auction while we were setting up!

Remember this feature we did last year on contrast matte and gloss nails?

Well, we're lusting over this Yves Saint Laurent nail polish duo that makes the manicure job way easier to achieve. Check out the Duo Terriblement Noir:

Both bottles come in black but one comes in a matte finish while the other is glossy. The effect is:

How amazing is that?? But unfortunately for us, YSL nail polish isn't available in our shores. Guess we'll have to settle for doing it the good old fashioned DIY way!

Do you have any special manicures you want to try? Let us know!

Reggie

Raison d’EtreTo learn to enjoy the journey, live with appreciation, and since no kiddies yet, to care for my sweet puppy-dog

Job:  Founder of Kimiko Beauty ; smart makeup that treats your skin while you wear it, for a better complexion sans makeup (Kimiko in Japanese means Energy, Beauty and Youth)

Read:  I tend to have a business/communication book on the go, alongside something more right-brained (or no-brained), be it a novel or a magazine

Listen: Where do I even begin?  My tastes range from classic rock to jazz to electronica, but lately I’ve been listening to Miiko Snow, Royksopp, The Whitest Boy Alive, Kings of Convenience, and one of my all-time favorites remains Neil Young (yes, really)

View or watch: Jeopardy (so nerdy and so good), Arrested Development reruns, 30 Rock

From Ernest Montilla via email

Where can we buy nice brushes? Are brushes in beauty bar nice? Thank you!

Hi Ernest,

I like to use a variety of make up brushes from Shu Uemura, Makeup forever, Sephora, to Bobbi Brown. I also go to Beauty Bar to for Japonesque products. They have over 200 makeup tools, and have earned the reputation of being a professional artist's favorite brand. For exceptionally good quality brushes that will last a long time, Japonesque is a brand to beat!

You can also go easy on the budget by buying ready-made sets that's perfect for tagging along with you wherever you go. For cheaper finds, check out the following brands:

Dashe brushes are made from fine animal fibres that help distribute the right amount of pigment on to your skin. These are available at Rockwell's PCX, Alabang Town Center and, at Greenbelt's First Aid branch.

Made from Hong Kong, Suesh was established in February 2006 by three sisters who are all professionals in the field. Now, who can't trust a Cosmo-awarded brand?

Charm is a homegrown brand you'll be sure to love. Their brushes are made with both fine animal and synthetic hair. Its softness and quality are guaranteed by the line Beauty & Minerals, the brand that came up with these signature makeup brushes.

Let these brushes sweep you off your feet!
