This month, Preview once again broadcasts its ten-strong roll call of this year’s hottest young designers culled from Manila’s ever-burgeoning fashion scene, and the fanciful Enrico Carado is one of them.

This DLS-CSB alumna started off by being a costume designer for local television. There he dreamt up fantastic, outlandish creations that he then translated into more wearable fashion when he decided to formally join the fashion industry. He debuted in Philippine Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2009 where his talent was first recognized.

But it wasn’t until this year, in Philippine Fashion Week Holiday 2010, when Enrico truly impressed Manila’s fashion audience with a ten-piece collection based on ancient warrior women propelled into the future. Called Neo-Tribalism, the collection features sculpted detailing, denim airbrushing, and armor-like accents on simple, classic silhouettes. It was clearly a repertoire borne out of distinct inspiration and devoted talent (Enrico handcrafted every garment all by himself), and it was justly well-received and well-applauded by fashion authorities across the industry, who lost no time in proclaiming that there is undoubtedly a lot to look forward to from this exciting young designer.
