VANIA ROMOFF: HOLIDAY 2010

The Cebu-raised but now Manila-based designer Vania Romoff showcased her latest collection in Members Only to a select crowd with a select coterie of beautiful muses.

Amina Aranaz-Alunan, Rosanna Aranaz, Phoemela Barranda, Mai Kaufman, Nicole Whisenhunt, Loralee Baron-Soong, Rocio Olbes, Alexandra Rocha, and Nicole Hernandez were among the many lovely ladies Vania invited to join her that night to present her most glamorous outing yet. Grecian silhouettes and floor-grazing, richly draped numbers that evoke the drama and prestige of 50's and 60's evening dressing make up the Holiday 2010 collection.

Below, she tells us about her newest dressy lineup. Read on, and don't forget to click on the photo gallery to view the pieces from her Holiday 2010 collection.

PLEASE TELL US ABOUT YOUR INSPIRATION FOR THE COLLECTION.

It’s a return to glamour. It's all about wearability and longevity. Clothes that are timeless, but current and young.

WHAT MATERIALS AND TECHNIQUES DID YOU USE?

Lots of draping. Jersey, silk chiffons and lace are the most luxurious fabrics you can have.

WHAT PROMPTED YOUR CHOICE OF THE COLOR PALETTE?

I had pinks, whites, reds, gold, and gray, too! All of my favorite colors. I played around a lot with this collection.

WHAT ARE ITS SIMILARITIES AND DIFFERENCES TO YOUR PAST COLLECTIONS?

A first for me was the beaded finale gown. I don't do beads much. But this one came out tasteful. As always, solid colors; I'm print averse at heart.

WHO DO YOU ENVISION WEARING THESE PARTICULAR PIECES?

Women. All kinds of women. I feel like my pieces translate to any type of woman. It's never avant-garde. I always want the women who wear my pieces feel beautiful and comfortable.

WHAT CAN YOU TELL US ABOUT YOUR MUSES FOR THIS COLLECTION? WHY DID YOU CHOOSE THEM?

I've never done a show wherein my piecs were modeled by muses. I chose these women because they exude beauty, confidence and are each a unique persona in their own way. Exactly the kind of women I see wearing my designs.

DO YOU HAVE ANY FAVORITE GARMENTS FROM THIS COLLECTION?

My white numbers are lovely.  The beaded one of course was new for me so I was excited to do that.

WHAT CAN WE LOOK FORWARD TO FOR YOUR NEXT COLLECTION?

I don’t know yet but there's a big chance I might be playing with tulle next time.
