Frances Bean Cobain, the brunette, red-lipped, porcelain-skinned daughter of late rockstar Kurt Cobain and Courtney Love, was the muse of Cebu-based designer Oj Hofer for his Summer 2012 collection. The ingenue, who has had the rock world's attention since she was a babe, has an innocent yet enigmatic look that makes her magnetic. Her being a grunge progeny makes her automatically cool—an ideal inspiration for Oj, who, this summer, is going back to his signature street look after having a vivid and glamorous Holiday 2011.
Oj went back to basics with this outing, maximizing the aesthetic he's most known for, and most comfortable with: chic casual wear. Touched with the offhand, too-cool quality of streetwear, the pieces are mostly easy separates that can be styled every which way. The all-white gauze opener looks great with the chain neckpiece of German designer Miranda Konstantinidou, who lent Oj the fab items from her accessory brand Konplatt, giving the collection its distinct rock 'n roll styling (check out the net-like overlays studded with Swarovskis, chainmail bibs, and the piled-on chain necklaces).
The gauze garments—minidress with its accompanying jacket, maxi skirt, and even the men's sweater—simply beg to be worn on a breezy summer day, while the veiled sequined pieces offer understated sparkle for any night out. Lastly, Oj referenced Frances Bean's innocence with the pale pink lace dresses, giving the monochromatic summer collection a much-needed pop of fresh color.
