Fashion girls take over the airwaves.

By Jacque De Borja

Is becoming a disc-jockey the new fashionable thing to do? What with Tracy Abad hosting "Style 101" on Jam 88.3, Raya Mananquil doing "The Magazine Show" on NU 107, and Sarah Meier-Albano and Vicky Herrera co-anchoring "The Dollhouse" U92, the airwaves are filling up with the cool chatter and track choices of women whose photos also grace the glossies. And with real time, live streaming in the booth becoming popular, you can actually watch while you listen to each show.

StyleBible caught up with the four women to get the dish about their personal style (fashion and music-wise) and their own radio shows.

  • Raya Mananquil looks ridiculous! Always!

  • Sarah Meier Albano looks great in that outfit! Very euro chic! :) They are all stylish, except for Raya Mananquil. The over knee stockings don't appeal to me. I never really got her style. I don't think anyone in the Philippines does.

  • C'MON! RADIO DJ?!?!
    YOU, RAYA?!
TO EVERYONE WHO HAS LISTENED TO HER SHOW, INCLUDING ME, IT IS OBVIOUS THAT RAYA HAS NO TALENT WHATSOVER THAT MAY JUSTIFY HER ON AIR PRESENCE!!!
UNLIKE A REAL ENTERTAINMENT PERSONALITY, RAYA IS SLOW AND LACKING CREATIVITY! GO SEE FOR YOURSELVES! (there's a online live stream on NU107) SHE'S READING A GOD DAMN SCRIPT!
'THE WOMAN FOR THE JOB'??! FOR THOSE WHO CAN SMELL SOMETHING FISHY IN HERE, THE 'WOMAN BEHIND THE JOB' IS MOST DEFINITELY RAYAS MOTHER WHO SPOON FEEDS HER KIDS WITH MEDIA PRESENCE. OBVIOUSLY RAYA'S LOOKS CAN'T CASH HER REGULAR TV EXPOSURE, I MEAN WHO WOULDN'T GET WEIRDED OUT BY THAT FACE?
THE BIG SOLUTION: INVISIBLE RADIO DJ! IT'S JUST THAT SHE FRIGGIN' SUCKS AT IT!
MY ADVICE: RAYA, GROW UP! GET A REAL JOB AND STOP ANNOYING US PEOPLE WHO ENJOY QUALITY ENTERTAINMENT!

  • So Raya, what IS the definition of the word "amalgam?" It's just that I have never heard it used in everyday language to describe "variety, assortment," so naturally, I "googled" it.

It mostly means "An alloy which is a mixture of mercury and one or more other metals; used in dental restorations..." hmmm....
