LOUIS CLAPAROLS SWEETENS UP THE HYATT
The Hyatt Hotel and Casino Manila tapped Louis Claparols for their second "couture cake" launch, just in time for the sugary Valentine rush. Following Kate Torralba, Louis designed a limited edition cake for the Hyatt's Pastry Boutique that represents his distinct design style and dessert fixation.
Called Kaleidoscope, the cake is a "cube-shaped trifle made with Swiss Felchlin white chocolate, filled with layers of fresh strawberries, covered with a smooth cream cheese mousse, [with] a crunchy vase of crushed Graham crackers with cinnamon spice." It is covered with square panels of white chocolate printed with the designer's signature colorful geometric patterns.
The yummy cake (we had a taste of it during the launch and the day after as we won one of the cakes being raffled off, just in time for Jacque de Borja's birthday!) is dedicated to Louis's late uncle, musician Francis Magalona. A portion of the proceeds will also go to Louis's favorite organization, the Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS).
Kaleidoscope is available at the Hyatt Hotel and Casino Manila's Pastry Boutique from February to April 2011. It is available for P988.
