PEFTA 2012
Bonafide fashion fiends got their annual fix at this year’s PEFTA (Preview Emerging Fashion Talent Awards), held last September 19 at the Rockwell Tent. The awards show—which puts this year’s much-talked-about roster of hot young design talents in the spotlight—showcased a six-piece collection from each designer, who tailored their pieces to this year’s theme, “Reinventing the Silhouette.”
As expected, an abundance of avant-garde shapes and forms were on display for the audience. A visual feast took over the runway as interpretations of the theme—from the simple to the esoteric and from the pretty to macabre—delighted guests, a discerning group comprised mostly of fashion insiders, industry professionals, and even other PEFTA alumni. From Li-J Eleazar’s metamorphosed-butterfly pieces to the skeleton-bone stunners of Mark Tamayo, the only limit to the evening’s showcase were those of the designers’ imaginations themselves—and with those like Emir Yamamoto helming pieces with references such as “Middle Age battlegear,” everyone could expect quite the show indeed.
