What made you try this trend?
I adore everything short—mini skirts, short shorts and dresses—so at first, I was really hesitant to try wearing a maxi skirt. I felt like it would drown out my tiny frame and it would be unflattering. Since I started blogging though, I promised myself that I'd try new looks, so I got myself a maxi despite the hesitation.
How do you build your outfit around it?
Start with the skirt then look for a top to pair it with. If you want to put emphasis on the skirt, try wearing a more neutral top and accessories.
How do you style it to make the look your own?
My style is, more often than not, a combination of sexy and feminine. So I kept it sexy by pairing it with a cropped corset, showing a hint of skin. I also balanced it out and kept it feminine by using pink lipstick, a pink bag and pearls.
How do you balance your look to avoid making it look over-the-top?
I personally think it's all about balancing skin exposure. If you want to avoid looking too conservative, try pairing it with a sleeveless top. Also, it's best to highlight the skirt, so if the skirt is already printed, try opting for a plain top.
How do you accessorize the maxi skirt trend?
You can accessorize it by wearing belts—they not only highlight the skirt, they also highlight your frame. Also, necklaces and bracelets would be good complements too.
Can you give tips on how to wear this trend?
If you're petite like me, you can try going for high waist maxi skirts. They easily help you maintain your curves. Also, the best kinds of maxi skirts for me are the loose ones. They are more feminine and fun, and they are better for summer. I would also recommend getting a sheer maxi skirt, I've also been on the lookout for the perfect one.
How would you wear it during the day, night, to the beach, to a party, to work, etc.?
Maxi skirts are perfect for the beach, I paired mine with my strapless bikini top. At night, I wore a black sleeveless top and belted my skirt. You can also wear this trend at work by pairing it with a sleeveless top and wearing a blazer over it. After work you can lose the blazer, amp up the make-up and accessories and you're good to party.
Alyssa wore a denim corset from Topshop, a vintage maxi skirt with heels from H&M and accessories from Forever 21.

What made you try this trend?
It sounds ironic, but wearing maxi skirts can keep me cool on a hot summer afternoon and at the same time, warm enough on a cold night—just perfect with our strange weather these days! Also, I love how maxi skirts give that long silhouette.
How do you build your outfit around it?
Since I used a skirt with big floral prints, I thought of going for a simple top and just added a belt to break the print. I also went for chunky accessories and a turban so as not to look plain. To finish off the look, I made sure to wear heels to give me that longer silhouette.
How do you balance your look to avoid making it look over-the-top?
A voluminous maxi skirt is best paired with fitted or cropped tops. If you opt for loose tops, make sure to use a belt to define your waist.
How do you accessorize the maxi skirt trend?
You can try piling up bangles in different sizes, colors and prints. Long necklaces would also look great when you pair your maxi skirt with a simple top.
Can you give tips on how to wear this trend?
Wear your maxi skirt high, above your belly button, to give you that longer leg line. Wearing a belt would also look good to break the huge prints or color of the skirt. If you want to look taller, wear maxi skirt with heels. If you're blessed with long legs already, you can go for strappy sandals. Lastly, accessorize! It's fun to pile on the accessories with this trend.
How would you wear it during the day, night, to the beach, to a party, to work, etc.?
For day or even at the beach, I'd wear a flowy printed maxi skirt with light-colored tank top or cropped top. A gradual A-line maxi skirt in neutral color, like black, gray, or beige, paired with a chiffon top would be nice to wear in the office. For night outs or parties, I'd go for a romantic look with a pleated maxi skirt and an embellished or lace top.
Angela wears a top from H&M, a vintage skirt and belt paired with a Chanel bag and accessories from H&M, New Look and Gucci.

What made you try this trend?
I always loved maxi skirts, its ability to lengthen and make your body seem taller. Also, it's a great alternative to trousers and jeans on days you want to be conservative.
How do you build your outfit around it?
The highlight of the outfit was this brightly hued, graffiti print, semi-sheer Moonshine skirt, which I paired with a basic tank top, as the cut was high-waist. The skirt had a lot of loud vibrant colors so I kept my top basic. I matched it with a patent neon purse from SM and tassel necklaces from +RUCKUS for a more bohemian look.
How do you style it to make the look your own?
Perfectly matched accessories! I am big into statement necklaces right now and the one I am wearing just worked perfectly with the look.
How do you balance your look to avoid making it look over-the-top?
Since my skirt was loud, I toned it down with a simple basic tank top in black. Aside from matching accessories and an equally bright purse, I kept everything else bare and simple.
How do you accessorize the maxi skirt trend?
The trick is balance. Pick out the focal point, if you want your top to be the accent, go for a simpler maxi skirt. If you want your maxi skirt to stand out, wear it with a basic top. Pick out accessories, which will highlight rather than contrast with the best aspects of the look.
Can you give tips on how to wear this trend?
Choose the right length, so you don't trip on your hem or have to hold it up when walking. Also, always pick a simple and basic top, so as not to make the skirt all dressed up and formal especially when you're wearing it for casual days.
How would you wear it during the day, night, to the beach, to a party, to work, etc.?
The day: I'd choose light-hued tones and a simple tank top.
For night or to a party: probably a skirt in black with studs and leather for the more rocker, edgy look, I am quite known for.
To the beach: I'd pair it with a bikini top, like a bandeau or a triangle top.
To work: I'd choose a more conservative top, perhaps a sleeved basic shirt or a button down—Carolina Herrera style.
Joanna wore a Zara tank top, a printed maxi skirt from Moonshine paired with a necklace from +RUCKUS, a Parisian by SM Department Store clutch and wedges from Topshop.

What made you try this trend?
I've tried wearing maxi skirts in the past and they were always very comfortable because they were very easy to move around in. I decided to try a different maxi skirt trend, which was the see-through/lace for maxi skirts. I was quite hesitant at first because I wasn't sure about how I would go about styling it. Also, unlike the regular maxi skirts that cover your legs, the lace maxi somehow reveals and exposes your legs at the same time.
How do you build your outfit around it?
I started with a different kind of maxi skirt, a lace see-through one. From there I stuck to the more black and gray theme with only a gray top, and chunky black wedges to keep it simple.
How do you style it to make the look your own?
Since I really like wearing shorts, and the maxi skirt I chose was lace and see through, I decided to wear black shorts under the skirt.
How do you balance your look to avoid making it look over-the-top?
Since I wanted the skirt to stand out, I decided to stick to a very simple oversized gray top. I also used really simple go-to accessories, black chains.
How do you accessorize the maxi skirt trend?
I just used simple black chains, but I feel I should have worn more bangles and rings to give it more edge.
Can you give tips on how to wear this trend?
Many girls are apprehensive to try out the maxi skirt, especially when they feel like they are not tall enough. But in reality, it just depends on what style of maxi skirt you choose. Also, the cut of the skirt is very important, for example, if you are quite petite, it will not be very advisable to wear a printed maxi with horizontal lines. Make sure it fits well too so your dress won't overpower your frame.
How would you wear it during the day, night, to the beach, to a party, to work?
For day: try different colored maxi skirts and step away from the typical black. Beige, yellow, green and blue will be very refreshing colors for the day especially during summer.
For night or party: Try the sheer or lace maxi, pair it off with heels or wedges and a nice fitted top with gold or silver chains.
Lexi wore a top from Giordano, a lace skirt from Foz Shop paired with random accessories, Ray-Ban aviators and Graxie wedges.

What made try this trend?
I love wearing long dresses and maxi skirts, so wearing one is something that is not new to me. I like wearing pieces with movement. This specific maxi skirt is one of my favorites because of its unusual silk pleated texture and rich electric blue color.
How do you build your outfit around it?
Since the skirt is my major piece in this outfit, I decided to wear a simple top (its actually a swimsuit) and just layered some of my most treasured necklaces to give the whole outfit a lot of character. I wanted to create a look that is classy bohemian because I'll be wearing the outfit to the beach.
How do you style it to make the look your own?
Adding pieces that are really my kind of style, like these exotic layered necklaces from Egypt, Tibet and Palawan. Plus, I wore my all time favorite swimsuit as a top. I like to mix and match old and new pieces; it gives an outfit a story, creating a look that is you and original.
How do you balance your look to avoid making it look over-the-top?
Keeping the look simple, fresh yet stylish! Avoid wearing unnecessary pieces that will ruin the outfit and will make you just plain boring. Try to experiment and create a style that is out of the norm.
How do you accessorize the maxi skirt trend?
Wearing a piece with volume, like a maxi skirt is already the focal point in your outfit. Choose a top that's perfect for the maxi skirt and don't put on too many accessories.
Can you give tips on how to wear this trend?
Experiment with styling, add pieces that will make the outfit standout more and always keep the proportions right. After all, the maxi's volume and movement is already a showstopper!
How would you wear it during the day, night, to the beach, to a party, to work?
For day, I'd wear it with a cropped blue top and Doc Martens and leather backpack.
For the beach, I'd wear my tanga swimsuit as top and layer my favorite necklaces.
For night, I'd wear the maxi as a tube dress, gray suede heels and a fur clutch.
Noelle wore a swimsuit as a top, a vintage maxi skirt with sunnies from Japan and necklaces from Palawan, Tibet and Egypt.

What made try this trend?
I really love the playful vibe of the maxi skirt, there's just something about the long hem that makes me want to spin around in it and feel like a little kid again.
How do you build your outfit around it?
I first decided on what my outfit would look like. I really like edgy-boho mash-ups so I went for this earth-toned, animal print skirt and kept everything dark. I didn't want it to look like the usual gypsy-boho-traveler so I added edgier pieces like my watch and my sunnies.
How do you balance your look to avoid making it look over-the-top?
Call me old fashioned but for this look, I took into consideration the saying that if you're baring skin above, cover the lower body and vice versa. Didn't want to look too covered up so I decided to bare a little skin.
How do you accessorize the maxi skirt trend?
I think you can still accessorize all you want for this trend; it just really depends on the look you're going for. Some use the maxi skirt for minimalist looks while some, take the “more is more” approach.
Can you give tips on how to wear this trend?
It's one of the easiest trends as there are a variety of maxi skirts available in the market. If you're bold, go for prints and brights. If you like a more basic look, try the solid colored ones. There's a maxi skirt for everyone so my tip is to find the maxi skirt that most fits your style and one that you'll be comfortable in.
How would you wear it during the day, night, to the beach, to a party, to work?
I would love to go all-out gypsy-boho-traveler for the day by throwing on a printed top, a scarf, and a hat. For the beach, I'd pair my skirt with a bikini top.
Reg wore a tube top from a department store, a maxi skirt from Peace Love Fashion paired with Ray-Ban sunnies and a watch from FCUK.
