What made you want to try this trend?
More than just a trend, a good sweater is a basic in one's wardrobe once the temperature starts to drop. Though we don't have Autumn-Winter in Manila, I love the added texture that a sweater gives to an outfit. Missoni has a long heritage of knitwear so picking this sweater was a no-brainer. A nice printed sweater or one with a slouchy fit gives you that relaxed, yet cool vibe you need to look effortlessly chic.
How do you build your outfit around it?
Since this was a casual outfit and the weather hasn't really cooled down much, I opted to add a pair of shorts and velvet-studded slippers.
How do you make the look your own?
I wanted to keep the look unique by mixing prints, adding a similar printed pair of shorts.
How do you balance your outfit to avoid making it look over-the-top?
I wanted to keep the sweater as the focal point of the outfit so the rest of my clothes and accessories are of a muted palette.
How do you accessorize sweaters?
I kept my accessories simple for this outfit given its print-on-print look. For sweaters that are of a solid color though, the possibilities seem endless. You can pair this with a long necklace, chunky bracelets or if you're more playful, hair accessories, a hat and even a detachable collar are options as well.
Can you give tips on how to wear this trend?
Some knits can add bulk to your frame so it's best to always try one on to make sure you get the look you are going for. For the more adventurous, pick one in a graphic print or a metallic sheen and make heads turn.
How would you wear it during the day, night, to the beach, to a party, to work?
For day, I would love to wear a bulky sweater or a crocheted one with a maxi skirt or some tough boots for that neo-grunge look. For evening or to a party, I'd wear a minimalist/classic sweater with a metallic skirt and heels or possibly a sequined sweater, jeans and heels. For work, I'd go for a tomboy/masculine look pairing sweaters with wide-leg trousers and oxfords or do a complete 180 and be ladylike with a tweed skirt and high-heeled loafers.
