TRENDSPOTTING: CAPES

StyleBible spots this season's perfect cover-up.

While the folks abroad are thinking of capes as stylish new alternative to last year’s coats, the glamorous gals of Manila are taking the tropical approach to the garment—sheer embellished fabrics, vintage-style lace, and light-weight knits shrugged over cute little get-ups.

With the weird weather lately (warm one moment, wet the next), cover-ups that can be shrugged on and taken off at leisure have become de rigueur. These days, though, with the pretty array available in retail, capes, robes, and ponchos of sorts have become a key part of many an outfit equation.

  • I find it weird that a magazine devoted to women's fashion cannot properly identify what is and isn't a cape. There is not one woman (save the runway looks) in your gallery who is wearing a cape!
